Where to Store Pelts Red Dead Redemption 2
You are storing them on your horse.
I actually lost a bunch of pelts. Do you lose them off the back of your horse if you die?
Donate/sell them to Pearson, a trapper, or a fence, depending on who you want to craft things from.

dude I've tried donating my pelts to pearson but how???? I can't figure out how. I go up to pearson but there's no option to donate... I walk around the area and there's nothing to donate to.
I also lost my legendary bear pelt .. I had nowhere to store it so I left it in camp .. it was gone afterward.

Walk up to the table set up near his butcher station.

You can still buy the legendary bear gear from the hunter in town.
I lost it too but the game has a fail safe for that.

I did that but there's no button to do anything? Do I have to be carrying the skins?
Nope, as long as your horse is nearby (within camp grounds), it should be fine.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case, at least not anymore. I've died quite a few times with pelts on my horse. Whenever I see that there is something dangerous where I might die, I make my horse flee, so my horse doesn't die too. Every time I respawn, I call my horse and the pelts are still there. Could be a consistent, convenient glitch I guess, but that's what my experience has been. I've never tried with an actual carcass though.

Idk I lost my pelt every time I die it seems. Kind of sucks
It should still show up in your menu when donating stuff in your camp
